Fortnite Adds Kingdom Hearts Crossover with Sora, Riku, Kairi, Roxas

Fortnite Adds Kingdom Hearts Crossover with Sora, Riku, Kairi, Roxas

Fortnite has received a collaboration with Kingdom Hearts, bringing Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Roxas to the game’s Item Shop on Thursday, September 17. The launch turns the crossover from a teased arrival into a live collection that players can browse and purchase now, with character outfits joined by themed accessories, pickaxes, music, and LEGO Fortnite versions.

Four Kingdom Hearts heroes enter the Item Shop

The collaboration’s main attraction is its quartet of playable outfits. Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Roxas represent different parts of the Kingdom Hearts cast while giving Fortnite players four distinct ways to bring the series into matches. Their arrival is the central release of the promotion, rather than a simple reference item or a single character cameo.

Each character also has equipment tied to the series. Sora’s Kingdom Key, Riku’s Soul Eater, and Kairi’s Destiny Embrace appear as themed pickaxes. Roxas is represented by both Oathkeeper and Oblivion, weapons that give his portion of the collection a particularly recognizable Kingdom Hearts identity. The lineup therefore extends beyond character models and gives players matching gear for their loadouts.

The collection reaches LEGO Fortnite, too

The crossover is not limited to Fortnite’s standard character presentation. LEGO versions of the four characters are included for LEGO Fortnite, allowing the collaboration’s visual style to carry into that mode as well. That broader support matters for players who spend time in Fortnite’s different experiences, because the release offers more than a cosmetic set designed for only one type of session.

The Item Shop selection also includes smaller references for fans who want to build a themed combination without purchasing a character outfit. The Gummi Ship emote provides a direct nod to the series’ interworld travel, while the Sea Salt Ice Cream back bling brings one of Kingdom Hearts’ most recognizable recurring treats into the game. These additions give the crossover room for both prominent and understated customization.

Music completes the Kingdom Hearts theme

Two songs round out the launch: “Dearly Beloved” and “The Other Promise.” Their inclusion gives the collaboration an audio component in addition to its outfits, equipment, emote, and back bling. For longtime fans, those selections connect the Fortnite collection to the emotional and musical identity of Kingdom Hearts instead of relying only on visual references.

Players can buy the items separately or choose the complete Kingdom Hearts bundle. That structure gives shoppers a practical choice. Someone who only wants Sora or a specific piece of equipment can select individual items, while a player seeking the full crossover can use the bundle to collect the broader lineup in one purchase. The available options also make it easier to prioritize favorite characters and accessories rather than treating the entire set as mandatory.

What the release means for Fortnite players

The timing is straightforward: the collaboration is available in the Item Shop on Thursday, September 17, the same day the announced event arrives in the game. Players interested in the collection should check the shop while the items are listed, especially if they want to compare the individual offerings with the full bundle. The confirmed announcement does not establish how long each item will remain available, so the shop is the relevant place to monitor the promotion rather than assuming a permanent addition.

The release also shows how the Kingdom Hearts collaboration is designed to meet different kinds of Fortnite players. Character collectors can focus on Sora, Riku, Kairi, or Roxas. Loadout-focused players can choose a Keyblade-inspired pickaxe or the accessories that best fit their existing locker. LEGO Fortnite players have their own versions of the cast, and music collectors can add two series tracks to the crossover experience. The result is a collection with several entry points instead of one all-or-nothing cosmetic.
