Square Enix released a free demo of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The demo is available for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch , and lets players experience the beginning of the adventure through the conclusion of the events in Witherwood.
What the demo includes
- Playable through the conclusion of the first chapter (the events in Witherwood).
- Recruit monsters and build a team to face different enemies.
- Use the synthesis system to combine creatures and create new monsters.
- Carry progress forward: up to eight monsters obtained in the demo can be transferred to the full game.
The demo allows you to recruit monsters, experiment with team composition and synthesis, and test combat and exploration systems before the full release. Any progress made in the demo — including up to eight monsters acquired during the session — can be transferred to the retail version when the game launches.
Release date
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is scheduled to launch on December 3, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. A new trailer showcasing the demo has also been published.
