Nintendo has officially unveiled its first special edition Nintendo Switch 2, and it celebrates one of the company’s most iconic franchises. The The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition will launch on October 29, 2026, ahead of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on November 5.
The special hardware was revealed during the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, alongside a matching Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and carrying case.
A Switch 2 worthy of Hyrule

The special edition gives the Nintendo Switch 2 a predominantly black design with green accents on the Joy-Con 2 controllers. Gold details inspired by the Triforce and other elements from The Legend of Zelda complete the look.
The dock also receives a major visual makeover, featuring a large golden Triforce alongside decorative elements inspired by the series. The console itself includes additional Zelda-themed details, making the system noticeably different from the standard Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo is presenting the hardware as part of its celebration of The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary, rather than as a traditional game bundle.
A matching Pro Controller is also coming

The Zelda celebration will extend beyond the console. Nintendo is also releasing a special Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller featuring the same black, green and gold color scheme.
The Triforce takes center stage on the controller, while additional Zelda-inspired details appear across its surface. A matching carrying case for Nintendo Switch 2 will also be available as part of the new collection.
The console does not include Ocarina of Time
Despite arriving just one week before the remake, the special edition Nintendo Switch 2 does not include a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The remake will launch separately on November 5, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo showed the first substantial gameplay footage during the anniversary presentation, revealing a modernized version of the Nintendo 64 classic with updated visuals and several gameplay changes.
Nintendo has not yet announced the price of the special edition console. For Zelda fans who have been waiting for a good excuse to upgrade their hardware, Nintendo has certainly made the timing convenient: the special-edition Switch 2 arrives just days before Link’s return to Hyrule.
