Professor Layton and the Curious Village Remake Announced for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

LEVEL-5 has announced Professor Layton and the Curious Village Remake, a complete reimagining of the original Professor Layton game first released for the Nintendo DS in February 2007. The remake is scheduled to arrive in 2027 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

LEVEL-5 statement

“Professor Layton and the Curious Village, the first game in the Layton series, is back in a completely new remake. Layton and Luke’s very first adventure returns like never before. For long-time fans, it’s an opportunity to revisit a familiar town. For new players, it’s a chance to discover the puzzles that started it all. We can’t wait to share more details!”

The announcement included an overview of the game as published on the official site. Key details and features highlighted by LEVEL-5 are reproduced below.

Overview

Relive the story with enhanced visuals and greater immersion. The plot begins when Professor Hershel Layton, an English gentleman and respected archaeologist, travels to the remote village of St. Mystere with his apprentice Luke, responding to the request of a wealthy baron’s widow. According to the baron’s will, the family treasure — the Golden Apple — is hidden somewhere in the village, and whoever finds it will inherit the Reinhold estate. Professor Layton and Luke must investigate the village for clues that will lead them to the precious relic.
