Eight protagonists, branching scenarios, and recruitable allies
The remake follows eight different protagonists in a world threatened by the return of the Four Sinistrals — ancient servants of the Archfiend who seek to reopen the gates to the Abyss. Each playable character has their own narrative path, and more than 20 allies can be recruited over the course of the adventure.
The game features a free scenario system in which player choices change events, which characters appear, and how the story progresses. Players will be able to explore multiple regions, pursue clues tied to legends, and decide their route through the world.
Combat and series mechanics
Battles use a timeline to determine turn order, requiring attention to the positions of allies and enemies. The remake preserves classic series mechanics such as Glimmers, formations and techniques, while introducing United Attacks — combined moves triggered after filling an Overdrive gauge.
